Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information the KindaMADballs mobile game ("the app") handles, and how. Short version: the app has no accounts of its own and never asks for your name, email or contact details. The only third party involved is Google: its advertising SDK, and Google Play Games if you sign in to back up your progress. The app also sends us anonymous gameplay statistics, so we can see how the game is actually played, and anonymous error reports, so we can fix bugs. Both are described below.
Information collected automatically
The app shows ads through Google AdMob (Google Mobile Ads SDK). To serve and measure ads, Google may collect device information including your Advertising ID, IP address, coarse device data (model, OS version, screen size), and ad-interaction data (impressions, clicks). This collection is performed by Google under its own terms. See Google's Privacy Policy and how Google uses information from AdMob. Where required (for example in the EEA/UK), the app shows a consent form via Google's User Messaging Platform before personalized ads are served; declining limits ads to non-personalized ones.
Gameplay statistics
The app sends a small record of each play session to our own servers (Cloudflare), so we can see where new players stop playing, how long runs last, and which choices people make. Each record contains a random identifier the app creates on first launch, a session identifier, the app version, whether this is the first time the app was ever opened, how many runs were started and finished, the longest run and highest level reached, the weapon and ability last chosen, how often the store was opened, whether a revive offer was shown or taken, and whether the double reward was taken.
The random identifier is not linked to your name, email, Google account or Advertising ID. It is the same identifier the leaderboard uses, so a leaderboard entry and these statistics can be tied to the same install. If you use cloud save (below), the identifier is included in your backup so your scores follow you to a new device; we still never learn which Google account it belongs to. These statistics are used only to improve the game. They are not sold, not shared with advertisers or any other third party, and not used to personalize ads. To have them deleted, contact us at the email below.
Error reports
When something goes wrong inside the game's code (a bug that usually doesn't close the app but can break part of it), the app sends a short error report to our own servers (Cloudflare), so we can find and fix the bug. Each report contains the random identifier described above, a report identifier, the app version, whether it is a test build, which part of the game was open, the kind of error and its message, the place in the game's code where it happened, how many times it repeated, how long the app had been open, and your device model and operating system version. The app sends at most ten reports per session, and none while you are offline; reports that could not be sent wait on your device and go out the next time the app starts.
Error reports describe the game's code, not you. They contain no name, email, account, contact details, location, IP address or Advertising ID. The random identifier is the same one the leaderboard and the gameplay statistics use, and it is not linked to your identity. Error reports are used only to fix bugs. They are not sold, not shared with advertisers or any other third party, and not used to personalize ads. To have them deleted, contact us at the email below.
Leaderboard
Finished runs are posted to the in-game leaderboard under a generated display name, which you can replace with a name of your choosing. That name and your run results (survival time, level, kills, and the weapon and ability used) are stored on our servers (Cloudflare) and shown publicly on the leaderboard. No email, phone number, or identity is requested or stored. Choose a name that doesn't identify you if that matters to you. To have a leaderboard entry removed, contact us at the email below.
Google Play Games sign-in and cloud save
Signing in is optional. The app uses Google Play Games Services for it: if you already use Play Games on your device, Google may sign you in automatically when the game starts, and you can also sign in from the game's Settings. The game plays the same whether you are signed in or not.
While you are signed in, the app keeps a copy of your progress in your Google account through Google Play Games Saved Games, so it comes back after a reinstall or on another device. That copy contains: your in-game currency "BALLSOULS" (earned and spent), unlocked weapons and abilities, your best result with each weapon, lifetime totals (kills, boss and elite kills, runs finished, longest run, highest level), your leaderboard name and the leaderboard's random identifier, your sound, music and vibration settings, which tutorial hints you have seen, the weapon and ability you last chose, and whether ads have been removed.
This copy is stored by Google, not on our servers, and we cannot read it outside the app. To sign you in, the app receives your Play Games player ID and display name from Google; they stay on your device and are not sent to us or linked to the leaderboard or the gameplay statistics. Google handles this data under Google's Privacy Policy.
To delete the cloud copy, remove this game's data in your Google Play Games settings (under deleting your Play Games account and data, where you can pick individual games), or delete your Play Games account. Because the copy lives in your Google account, only you can delete it; we have no access to it.
Information stored on your device
Your saved game (unlocked weapons, in-game currency "BALLSOULS", bests and settings) is kept on your device. If you are not signed in to Google Play Games, it never leaves your device, and deleting the app deletes it. If you are signed in, the backup described above stays in your Google account after the app is deleted. Apart from that backup, the only data about your play that leaves your device is the leaderboard entry, the gameplay statistics and the error reports described above.
What we do NOT do
- No accounts of our own and no email collection (the optional sign-in is Google Play Games, run by Google)
- No access to contacts, photos, files, location, camera, or microphone
- No selling of personal data
- No in-app purchases in the current version (a future version may add them; this policy will be updated)
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13. Ads are requested as not child-directed. If you believe a child has submitted a leaderboard name, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes
If the app's data practices change (for example when in-app purchases arrive), this page will be updated and the "last updated" date revised.
