LANCER
What it does
A long violet prism with a forked tip. It walks in until it is far off, near the edge of your screen, then anchors and paints a wedge on the floor pointed at you. After 1.1 seconds a beam fires down one side of the wedge and sweeps across to the other. Getting caught costs 10. Then it sits still for 0.8 seconds, and about three seconds later it does it again.
The tell. A violet wedge on the floor, its point on a lancer far out at the edge of the screen. The beam comes 1.1 seconds after the wedge.
How it kills you
You are holding a spot to fight, the wedge lands across it, and stepping a little to one side keeps you inside, because the beam sweeps the whole wedge, not one line.
How you beat it
- Leave the wedge, not the line. The aim is locked the moment the wedge appears, so walk out of its side and the sweep misses you entirely.
- Put something between you. Artifacts and the MONOLITH's glass walls cut the beam short.
- Go and get it after a sweep. It sits still for 0.8 seconds, and it is worth four times a grunt.
When you meet it
Share of everything that spawns, at three points in a run. From 1:30 one of the four new enemies is featured each minute at 2.5x its usual share, in turn.
